Halal Production

Halal is an Arabic term meaning 'lawful' or 'permissible'. It describes any item that is permitted for human consumption under Islamic law and it not only applies to edibles (foods and drinks), but also to other products or services of daily life.

On the one hand, Muslims must ensure that all foods, particularly processed foods, pharmaceuticals, and non-food items such as cosmetics, are halal. The latter, for instance, may contain animal by-products or other ingredients that are not permissible for Muslims to use on their bodies. On the other hand, peripheral industries such as tourism, food transporting, packaging, labeling and logistics need to be offered following precise rules.

There is also an halal fashion industry.
