Microfinance
This is the context in which Islamic contractual structures and Islamic values are forced to merge. At the same time is the framework within which ethical economy and Islamic economic thought almost overlap through the concept of financial inclusion advocated by them both
Microfinance is not a new development in Islam: Imam Abu Hanifa, for instance, founder of one of the four legal school still existent, was a merchant and used to finance one of his students to start businesses. A rich documentation on Microfinance in the MEDA region can be downloaded at Micro Finance at the University
Alberto Brugnoni has authored and managed in 2004-2007 one of the most innovative projects on ethical microfinance sponsored by the European Commission
